As we settled down to chat I admitted with some trepidation to Aurelia Chaveau that she was my first ‘proper’ interview...with a sense of mischief she declared..”Ah then it’s a perfect match-up as it's my first interview too. “

Aurelia is one ‘Smart cookie’ or maybe I should say, ‘one smart Anzac biscuit’ since she is an Australian.  I also came to discover that she’s an astute business woman and the sort of person to make her dreams come true rather than hanging around waiting for somebody to make them come true for her.  She has a keen sense of fun and humour particularly when it comes to discussing all things Australian we had a great conversation naming all the Australian actors we could think of and that one actor that appears in everything yet whose name nobody ever remembers. (Hugo Weaving I bet you won’t know the name but you’ll recognise the face)

Enchantingly, she is in no way ‘up herself’ or inflated by her own sense of self-importance. She is down to earth yet strangely in the skies. Aurelia is power driven – voltage charged and by that I don’t mean she’s greedy for power, far from it, this is a lady that doesn’t create clothes for the adulation, she does it because she loves it and it’s a challenge, rather I sense from her a boundless energy, a dynamo that gets thing done and has fun every single step of the way. Her zest for life and creativity shows, not only in the following interview, but in her clothing, bright, vibrant and alive, yet she also seems to be a traditionalist, her clothes are beautifully cut and traditional in style at times. I was left with the feeling, she is not the sort of person not to run with an idea or not to take chances and I liked that about her immediately.  I was left wondering if she was an an Aquarian. (I asked...turns out she’s a Capricorn)

Aurelia: How did you arrive in Sl? and what lead you to fashion?

I read an article in a magazine while getting my hair done and decided to see what it was all about. I found the website, logged on and didn't know what was happening, I was learning to walk and someone TP'd me away from my first landing point to a huge warehouse full of freebie fashions - none the less I bought everything I could see! And when I wore my first flexi skirt I was hooked! And I soon realised that anyone could make it, and I knew right then I wanted to do that!

 Aurelia: What inspires you to create? Do you get your inspiration from fashion magazines, a particular painting, theme etc?

I have always been a creative person, I love art and crafts of all sorts, I'm sure I have tried almost everything out there!  I'm inspired by pictures I see in magazines, internet searches, the styling on a model if I see something I like, I tend to research a lot and gather a bit of a collage of images before.  I create something, sometimes I do a sketch, other times I just have it in my head for a few days before I start anything just to be sure that's what I want to do. 

Aurelia: Do you think that sl follows the current trends in fashion and the fashion industry well or that it has its own particular current/pulse?

I think that it's both! There are designers that definitely follow the RL fashion industry (myself included) but I also think that there are many bloggers who create their own style in SL, and they have a powerful influence over trends in SL, you can see it everywhere when you shop, on flickr etc. And I think it then in turn inspires creators, because if you know your customer, you will know how to cater to them. I also think that the tools used to create in SL dictates the extent of what is possible and what  can be created, and therefore doesn't follow RL trends in that respect.

Aurelia:  How would you describe your genre of clothes to the readers? Does your collection follow a specific theme? How long did it take to create and what in this instance inspired the choice for your newest collection?

I would describe it as stylish and sophisticated, I have tended towards separates, however it is somewhere between the high couture fashions and casual. Recently, due to the spring season,  I have been inspired by resort wear of RL fashion houses Givenchy and Viktor and Rolf, and more recently the Peplum styles of Jason Wu. How long does it take me to create? Oh I never keep a record! If I were to take a guess... a minimum of 12-15 hours of work per item, but it is usually spread out over a week or two.

Aurelia:  What are your feelings on mesh clothing?

I was really scared to try it, but I accepted a spot in Avenue's MIX & MESH Fair without even touching mesh, and I had about 3 weeks to teach myself! There were some really sleepless nights! But I'm glad I did otherwise I might not have learnt! So I like it now, it has opened up a lot more possibilities for creating, in some aspects it’s easier to create than sculpties, because the textures are better, and mesh loads a lot faster than Sculpties. I don't like that it doesn't fit everyone, and I think the standard sizing helps a little.  I am still learning the skill of rigging LOL it kicks my butt!! That is the most frustrating part for me.

Aurelia:  What has been your proudest moment?

Hmmm so far I guess it would be the Avenue Mix & Mesh event, it was my first ever runway show, and I couldn't believe that people came to see it! I saw the audience and was like wow! I was so nervous and blushing so much in RL!!

Aurelia:  What do you hate and love most about the fashion industry on sl?

Ok lets start with the love! Mostly I love watching my fav bloggers and their styling’s, they always blow me away with their own creativity to mix and match items from different designers and make it look fabulous! I am envious of their wardrobes. As for the hate, I don't like it at all when creators are attacked for their items, I have seen it around and I can only guess that these people are jealous of the talent these creators have. In my personal opinion, it takes a lot of hard work, time and energy to create, I think anyone who creates and puts something for sale is a very brave person, because most art/creativity is very personal, even if it is a business and some people will like it and some wont, if you don't, SL is a large place and I suggest devoting time to finding things you like and being happy rather than picking on someone else. Just imagine yourself in that persons shoes.

 Aurelia:  Where do you see the brand headed?

I'm not sure what the future of MOLiCHiNO is, I do it for fun, it is my hobby, I enjoy it very much, and the people I have met as a result of this venture, well I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Currently I predominantly do clothing that is easy to mix and match, I would like to do some over the top couture fashion!  I would like to add some more accessories such as handbags, belts, hats etc, maybe try shoes one day, I really would like to create some hair too!! And if anyone’s working on a set of standard sizes for men’s mesh, I'd gladly dress the men of SL too!

 Aurelia: How did you arrive at the name ‘Molichino’?

I had wanted to start a store for a while, but I didn't know what to call it, it needed a name before it became something, I was reading a book, and the girl in it kept talking about how much she loved the Molichino colour of her hair, and I was just like what colour is this? and I looked it up thinking it was coffee based or something, and I googled it and it is a 16th century Italian word for the colour purple :D And since it's one of my fav colours, I used it as my store name :D

Yes, before you say a word, I am perfectly aware I am dressed like a bee today. I have one to say to that. Bzzzzz.

I’m also debuting my new shape…oooooo! I finally decided to conform a little to the Standard Sizing shapes, mainly just to make my life easier. I was getting tired of my boobs always sticking out slightly and straps hovering above my shoulders. I have to say I like it. It’s pretty much fixed all the little niggly bits I always had issues with and couldn’t figure out how to fix.

Anyway, I digress, onto clothes! These cute little mesh shorts are from e! and I like them a whole heap. Mesh shorts are just fantastic. Words cannot express my hatred for prims on shorts previously. Just ugh. HATE. But now I am a happy bunny of love because mesh shorts are beautiful and make my butt look cute. I have raided coldlogic again and brought some sunshine in my life with this cute yellow top. I had to wear these cute T strap shoes from G*Field to match and you should all run and get these are they are a free gift from G*Field at Culture Shock which is still running until the 26th. My hair today is the new release from Elikatira which is so new and shiny there will probably still be a crowd at the store! Anything else I forgot to mention is below and have a great day!

Partners Alon Alphaville & Alianna Logan

Am I calling myself a horse?  Well, no not exactly!  But I hope to have gotten even the smallest of points across.  I am very proud to officially announce my business partnership with Alon Alphaville, former owner of the Fashion in Pixels fashion feed.  With the loss of several key feeds, Fashion in Pixels included, Alon has joined forces with me to help turn themed BloggingSL, DesigningSL, and HuntingSL into three informative, entertaining, and genuinely helpful feeds for SL residents.

It will take time to build them, but one thing that can be said about both Alon and myself (aside from our oft-times messy or scandalous individual personal lives) is that we take our business endeavors inside of Second Life very seriously.  We are both dedicated to building the feeds and having them become staples that help the SL economy, not only fashion but almost all areas where the exchange of lindens, information, and products or services take place with a heavy focus on assisting newcomers to Second Life.  The only way to figure out you want to buy something or attend something is to know that the something exists in the first place.  Blogs are hugely important to that process and multiple feeds are needed to get the information out there.  What you don’t see on one feed, you might see on another.

In the pictures above we are visiting the Sanity Falls game hosted on Hoshi Island and created by MadPea Productions.  It is an intriguing psychological thriller where “you will become Alexander Blackwell, a well-known psychologist, who’s burnt out due to the excessive amount of work he’s been doing lately. He came to Sanity Falls for a holiday with his wife, Livea to recharge his batteries and find happiness and feel something in his life again.”  Things apparently go horribly wrong for Alexander Blackwell (you) and the wife Livea is kidnapped.  You must immerse yourself in the environment to save your kidnapped wife.  The textures are fantastic and serve to get you right into the mood for roleplaying.  You can find out more information about this interesting game on this website.

To take this shot I traveled back to the wonderful sim of “Fennel Tea Club” where we had our UNICEF Charity Event and found this gorgeous location on there where you can also swim and drive with a boat or just to relax the view and sit on the beach on the bar.

Had such a long day at work … I promised myself that I will go to bed as early as possible ,taking in consideration that I am still a bit sick ,so I need to spend a lot of time in bed ,but I simply couldn’t keep myself away from blogging these fabulous new mesh swimwears from the new Baiastice collection . Yes ,you are right … they are all mesh..

Baiastice is one of second life greatest clothes store .They design first class items for our avatar ,and for years they have been simply the best .Each new collection is a must have ,each new release is unique in it’s own way and each of their product is an evidence of what being a true fashion designer is really about.

When I heard that Baiastice released a mesh swimwear collection ,I was so happy that I decided to even play a bit with my photoshop skils to try to make as nice picture as possible .And here are my results which I really hope you will all enjoy .I can’t wait to play more in photoshop in my future style cards.

For today’s style cards I decided to present the following 3 swimwears sets :Shechy ,Maua and Norma. All of them can be found in many other colors too ,but since I couldn’t present them all in such a short time I decided to let you visit their mainstore and watch them closer.

So what is The Loneliness of Being all about?  It is an isolated island with a cloud of colorful letters floating in the air.  I thought their notecard explained it well, so I offer a direct quote: “The Loneliness of Being is a contemplative installation by artist Ian Pahute. The cloud comprises a thousand ever-changing words. Drawn live from the internet (including live news feeds and Twitter), the cloud is always evolving. It always reflects the ‘now’. Some see nothing more than foggy letters. Others see words. Some see hidden meaning and insights.”

Though I was too busy taking pictures to be as contemplative as I might have been, I do highly recommend a visit to this beautifully done work of art.  It does have a feeling of being in the now and of experiencing the movement of thought.  I’m wearing a leather jacket from *COCO* on top of GCD Tiger, which can be worn with or without the skirt.  Here is a close up below of Hush Grace SmokeyPink in the Vanilla tone with light brows.  It is enhanced by an eye make up from Fishy Strawberry.

Gorgeous isn’t it!  I’m also rather fond of this Fashionably Dead hair I’m wearing called Roxy in a vivid orange.  Below, I’m wearing GCD Tiger without the jacket and sporting a head dress from SoliDea FoliEs along with a sleek new hair from Vanity Hair called Casual Affair.

I had a hard time getting rid of the tint inside the little cubes of the hat so I had to cut some of them out because my Photoshop skills are terribly limited.  The hat is fabulous and looks even better than I was able to convey here!

Without any doubts you know it will be a great day when the designer of Belleza skins,Tricky Boucher, sends you his latest female skin to blog on your website .And this was for sure one of my best Monday Mornings .I literally jumped out of bed when I read his private message on my gmail account .And here I am my sweet readers..with some fresh new blogging reviews…

Belleza is without any doubts an elite when we talk about second life skin industry .They have been here for such a long time ,creating for us and our avatars firs class skins .They are respected all around the virtual world and it seems like this time they didn’t disappoint me either.

The new skin is called Lily V2 and is their newest releases.It comes with 6 different skin tones,ready to match your taste, but I prefer to blog for you the pale version as that is the one who fits the best my avatar .He already announced that in the near future more versions of this skin will be released at his store .Can’t wait what he is hiding in his designing room…

Let me tell you more about Lily .The skin comes with 20 different makes up, all of them looking totally different and of course stunning.All skins comes in different versions too with/without hairbase or with/without cleavage ,at the end it all depends on you which one you prefer more .

I promised you I will be back with more new releases,and you should know that I never lie .Since I discovered this new store I told myself “Ama you have to blog them” .I think it is a rare occasion for any blogger to have the chance to feature on their website such fabulous designs like the ones I got for today’s blog post ..

The store is called NYU ,and is owned by miss NyuNyu Kimono .Without any doubts she is going to become so big in fashion very soon thanks to her first class designs .I actually jumped from my chair when she offered me her entire women collection .I had so much fun styling it up.

What exactly I’ve got from the store?All the clothes..that includes the high waist pants that can be found in following colors: black,grey,maroon,midnight,purple and tan .I think they go simply perfectly with the vintage blouse available in blue,red,brown and nude .Of course you can always mix and match the colors ,so you will always look unique.

I usually don’t blog more than 1 release from each store , but I felt like this store deserves a lot more my attention .That’s why I decided to show you some of their short dresses available in charcoal,coral,lavender ,olive,sand and sky .These creations will make you shine in the crowd.

ohmaiiigod…Swaffette Firefly of SF Design is the reason I’m not in my bed..*shakes fist*… at approx 1.00am GMT time …she verrrrry casually mentioned that she had made some…MESH BOOTS…yes indeedy…and who could go to sleep without trying them on?!!  These are my first ever pair of high heeled meshy type boots *squeee*…they are a pair of  ”take you anywhere”  boots..classy…sleek..high slim heels…and FIFTEEN preset colours to choose from, plussss tintable…the HUD is sooper easy to use…I used the medium size and they fitted perfectly, also included is large & small…can you believe they are just 300L? Hello Glance International Agency Blog reader .How was your day?I must tell you that finally I feel a lot healthier ,had some rl problems but right now I feel like I am on the right way.Oh and I have many new releases for you that I am sure you will enjoy .Let me show them to you..

I can’t tell you how happy I was when I heard that Indyra released a new MESH dress. Yes that’s right ..i said mesh .It is called Rarity,and without any doubts it’s a piece of art .It comes in many colors,ready to make you shine in the crowd. I think this is definitely a must have for this week shopping spree.

Since Culture Shock is still going on ,I think I am still allowed to show you the stunning mesh clutches from Je Suis called Coquete .Aren’t they cute? Another thing we have it’s Wasabi Pills hair,my favorite mesh hair designer in sl, called Teeloh .As you can see I blog them kind of often.

It’s impossible not to talk about the shoes too ,an old but really great design by N-core Caresse .Many other colors are waiting for you at their mainstore .You might have seen the jewelries in my previous post ,as they are the same pearls from Mandala .I think I felt in love with this new release. And for the ending ,we have the new stunning Unique Megastore skin Mellisa,make up number 6.

I made it to the Culture Shock sim… finally and I have to admit… you can go broke there *grins* So many designers made amazing new creations and items for that fashion event.

    The 2nd annual culture shock event opened on May 4th 2012 and will close at the 26th of May. The event is meant as a charity for Doctors Without Borders (known also as Médecins Sans Frontières). This new event will feature art, music and of course – Fashion.

Every store has a mandatory participation of one NEW and EXCLUSIVE (for the duration of the event) item that gives 50 – 100% of the profits to the charity, however because last year we asked for THREE items, most people have more than the minimum.

To start with something I combined the “Lozenges” dress in black and white from [Sakide] with the amazing “Brera” heels from YS&YS. But there are so many new releases and wonderful designs, that I have to part my Culture Shock styles in more then one blog post :p

The “Lynxa”gown was made for Essence of Ebony 2012 contest and was worn by Miss Benin – Lynxa on the final day.
The original color – orange with yellow and green represents the country of Benin, and not only by the colors and fabrics, but with the style as well.
The hat is an inseparable part of a Benin folk dress and for Lynxa it has been especially crafted here in SL.
The real eye-catcher on this gown is the golden texture. Gold is, for sure, the hardest one to reproduce in SL, and Dani Plassitz, owner and designer of Styles by Danielle,  has tried her best to make you shine like the sun.
Every detail of the dress is carefully put together. The front jewel and the back sheer fabric are modifiable for you to perfectly adjust it to your shape. The skirts attached to legs come with the special resizer that can resize in any direction. This is especially helpful if your av is very tall or very small.
The “Lynxa Gold” jewelry set that is made especially to complete this gown.
The rhombus and gems resemble the fabric design, and the gold shine is underlined by the texture itself.
The set is transferable and it consists of: necklace, two bracelets, earrings and the ring worn on the index finger.

TUNES

Again it was the music that inspired me for a styling. Within Temptation is a band that I used to listen to a lot in the past. As I was sorting all my CD’s the last days I found the album again where the song “Mother Earth” was from and just listed to it running in circles :p

The gown is one of the Ashraya Project contributions of Azul. “Tyra” in a special color only for this event made a great basic for the look that was stuck in my mind. The gown has a lot of sheer parts that still cover up all what it has to The jewelry is as well an Ashraya contribution by Finesmith. “Krinin’s Poem” comes with headpiece, necklace and ring. The gemstones are color changable

For the face tattoo I used the “Wild Flowers” from White Widow, as well available at the Ashraya Project sim. The hair I found at a huge hair store called Discord Designs. I loved it so much as it is made with the new mesh technique that goes with the avatar so well. The color was matching so well that imagination of all that earth tones that I just loved it I hope you had fun listening the tunes and maybe can feel what I was going for

Hello Everyone!   Well this week I was on a mission to find the perfect outfit to go along with my newly acquired… gotta love… to die for boots!   We’ve heard me talk about GOS boots before.   I love them!   I would wear them with everything if I thought I could get away with it.    Now we know too that I’m not generally a color wearing gal.   I stick to black.. red… white…. brown…. neutrals!   But these denim boots with their girlie flowery style… I had to.     So I went shopping.. as we do!   I found the shorts easily enough but the top was so evasive.   I prolly tried 4 or 5 different ones before I settled on this cute yellow t-shirt with the knotted up side.    I think all in all it came out well.   But I’m a tad bit biased.    Oh well… I hope you enjoy my look!
